September 2010

Message from the President

Chamber Members,

This month we have a reduced newsletter. The work of putting it together is time consuming and Michelle Abbott, who has done a marvelous job with the newsletter this year, is no longer able to shoulder this task. Our Secretary Joann Showalter is closing her store and will be moving out of state so she can not assume this responsibility. It has proven to be too much work for one person and much of the newsletter work for other Chamber of Commerce is done by an employee. We do not have an employee because over the last 2 years the chamber has brought in less money than it has spent. This year’s board has turned that around by doing much of the work ourselves. The board is pro-posing that chamber members be more active in producing articles for each month’s newsletter. Michelle would still slot them into the program she created to and send out our chamber newsletter. If we all would pitch in and help the production of the newsletter would be spread out amongst more people and we would still be able to provide this valuable communication tool to our members. The board’s goal is to sometime in the future hire an employee for administrative tasks. Please let us know if we can count on you to help provide content and articles for the newsletter.

In addition, my question to you this month is, “What do you expect from the Chamber?” We are beginning to plan next years events and objectives and would like your input. Bring your ideas to the next meeting, or email them to, or call me at 303-838-4243

There was great music, great food, fun, interesting vendors and lots of family activities. We have had so many compliments on this years event. THANK YOU to everyone! Chamber Mixer

The Chamber mixer, held at McGraw Memorial Park on August 29th, was a nice way to relax for a couple of hours on a summer Sunday afternoon. It was a potluck event and boy what a great assortment of GOOD food. Thank you to McGraw Park for hosting our event and having volunteers to have the buildings open for all to enjoy. A BIG thank you to all who helped plan, set up, cook, tear down etc. Harmonie Stone from Golden Wellness Acupuncture gave us a presentation on Pulse testing. It was very interesting and informative. She is very knowledgeable and is an asset to our community with all she offers. Art Hall gave us a brief presentation about McGraw Memorial Park and the Park County Historical Society. He updated us on the continuing work going on at McGraw Park. What a big difference their work has made so far. There are still lots of thing to volunteer to help with! Watch for the next mixer date to be announced and plan on joining us and getting to know more people in our community and other chamber members! Enjoy the rest of this last part of summer and go visit the park.
